KAT had been lazing about the school for far too long. Nothing exciting had been going on for the past few days and there had been no one interesting about where she could have any rousing fun with. Actually, it was quite depressing. Perhaps people were starting to take their schooling serious. Of course it was important, but all work and no fun makes Kat quite the nightmare. Taking the opportunity to leave campus, she wandered down to the waterfront to see how the day was turning out. It had been relatively slow all around town, so there were very few people to talk to. When encountered with the boredom, she rummaged around through her brown messenger back and pulled out her iPod and some purple ear buds. She stuck them in her ears and hummed, her footsteps matching the beat. In her head there was an entire concert that was jammin'. Outkast is what was playing, their infamous song "Hey Ya" that made her just want to dance. Lucky enough, today she really didn't feel like looking like a crazy person, though there has been more than one time where she did not mind looking like someone who has lost her mind.
Stepping down into the grass and towards the lake, she sat down heavily and pulled her bag into her lap. Taking one of the scones, she started to rip it into small pieces and toss it at the water in the lake. The fowl caught wind of the going's on fairly quickly and made their way in her direction. A smile curled her lips gently as they lifted their chubby little bodies out of the water and started to come closer to her, now completely aware of what the source of food was.
"A duck walked up to the lemonade stand...Waddle, waddle." Kat sang gently as she tossed some more bread at the hungry birds. Realizing these ducks were pretty brave due to how close they were venturing towards her, she decided to test how brave they actually were. Instead of tossing it closer towards the water, she let the bread pieces fall closer and closer to her. Eventually, she picked off a piece of bread and held it out in her hand. Most of the ducks quacked idly and retreated back towards the water, but one rather large duck made its way towards her and nibbled the bread out of her hand.
"He said to the man, running the stand -- Hey! OW! STOP THAT YOU STUPID THING!" Kat was about to continue her little duck song when the duck that had nibbled the bread out of her hand suddenly seized her by the pant leg. It was as if he was demanding more food. Shaking her leg, she scrambled up to her feet and tossed a whole scone to the greedy bird. Attacked by a duck. That was definitely one of the more interesting things that had happened to her in the past few weeks.

Sheen wondered around, aimlessly. He had nowhere he wanted to go, but he felt like walking. His thoughts raced, but he wasn't really thinking about anything. It was strange how often somebody could do doing two opposite things at once, which made him wonder what opposites really were. It was also strange how, when someone was walking around and not paying attention, they didn't run into walls. They just ended up some place.
He was standing on a hilltop, overlooking the lake. A girl was feeding the ducks, and singing to them. That seemed like a bad idea to him. When people feed wild animals, the animals often become dependent on the people to give them food and forget how to get their own food. He wondered if that was already the reality with these ducks, or if they could still caught their own food.
The girl put the crumbs closer and closer to her. Then she put one in her hand, and Sheen wondered if any of the ducks would bit her. The ducks didn't want to take food from her hand and turned away, except for one. After this duck had eaten what she gave him, he bit her on the leg. She responded to this by rewarding him with more food.
He walked down the hill and towered her. He smirked. "You know, if you give a duck some bread, he'll want more bread to go with it."

KAT grumbled angrily with a string of swears flowing from her tongue as she shook her fist at the duck. That was all of her bread and she was hoping to save that last one for herself and her walk back up to the school. "Stupid duck." The duck didn't seem to mind what it had done since she had surrendered such a large meal for it. Picking the scone up, it waddled back down to the water and protected his score by loudly quacking and pecking at the other ducks that made an attempt to steal some of his lunch. Heaving a sigh, she adjusted her bag on her shoulder and brushed her pants off to rid herself of the grass and excess crumbs. When a voice came from behind her she jumped, obviously startled out of her own thoughts.
"Yeah, well he didn't have to attack me. I would have given it to him anyway." She defended and looked back down to the water. Looking to the boy that had decided to speak to her, she quirked a brow at him curiously. She did not know him, but he did seem familiar. He probably also went to her school since it seems like most kids in this town attended the musically gifted school. Sometimes it was really obvious, the students that attended. If he did he would probably study the popular genres like electronic or rock or something like that. The fact that he had approached her without even having to know her meant that he would probably be a natural performer and he had quite the presence, which would probably make him excellent on stage. But those thoughts were just her first impression of him. Her instincts were pretty good when it came to this type of thing -- three years at the school would do that to you.
"I'm sorry. I don't think I caught your name...I'm Kat." The girl smiled brightly and stuck out a willing hand. She had never been one that got all caught up in formalities or any of that silly stuff. "Do you go to Vea too?"

When Sheen got closer to the girl, he realized that he recognized her. He had seen her before. He thought he had seen her at school, but he wasn't sure. It could have just been around town.
He listened to the girl’s poor excuse. He knew he had given the ducks some bread (at least he thought it was bread) but he didn't think that she had meant to given the duck a whole piece. She was just scared of the greedy duck.
She changed the subject and introduced herself. Then she asked him if he went to Vea. "Yeah" he told her, taking another step towered her. "I'm Sheen." He held his hand out for a shake.
